Sheckys.com

Fashion week is more like a month—New York, London, Paris and Milan—each city showcases the newest and most genius designs, but for us observers it is nothing but torture. I am constantly meandering around Opening Ceremony and Bergdorf Goodman, caressing the softest furs, spying the dresses that a handful of celebrities sported over the weekend, and trying to emulate the illusion that my one Marc Jacobs bag means I can afford another (newsflash: I cannot!).

Thankfully, discount designer websites have been rapidly building a following among us fashion obsessed girls, and theOutnet.com is one of my favorites.

What’s All The Fuss About?

Halston, Valentino, Emilio Pucci et al.—all at slashed prices…do I need to go on?! The pieces added daily are often straight from the runway, and the vibe the website exudes is that you are really are treating yourself to something awesome—it’s not a raiding through the racks at Barney’s Warehouse Sale type of thing. While the prices are cheap in terms of designer wears, Target this is not, so don’t expect to pick up a Chloé bag for $100!

Other Reasons We Love It:

It’s easy to navigate and there are loads of search options, so if you want to find a pair of Louboutin boots in a size 8.5, they will be on your screen before you can gasp ‘60% off?’! If you waver on the indecisive side and like your menu with a little less options, then the ‘Dress Me’ feature is for you. Hit the tab and tell them what kind of outfit you are looking for—a date for tea? Try a Jonathan Saunders linen blend sleeveless dress ($388) or a By Malene Birger cute cardi for just $56! Workaholic? (Aren’t we all?) Splash that hard-earned cash on a Michael Kors trench ($756) or if you read our fall work boots article, go for a pair of Vanessa Bruno suede bad boys for just $236!

If you sign up for the newsletter, you get warnings BEFORE deals go live, and every Friday morning there is a weekend shop which offers at least 40% off on top of the already cut prices. These are only available through emails…so SIGN UP!

My Opinion:

As a dedicated follower of fashion minus the funds to be great at it, theOutnet.com is my knight in six-inch Jimmy Choos. The biggest bonus is that everything on it is in season and totally wearable, so there is no fear of logging on with the hope of finding Alexander Wang, and leaving with a three season old Betsey Johnson belt (helloooo, TJ Maxx).

My Verdict:

For the fashionista on a tighter budget than Alexa Chung, this website is a great addition to your favorite online haunts.
