I also have a 15,000 masters project looming over my head, counteracting all the good times that are to be had. Boo to that.
That said I still manage to take plenty detours on route home to get my fill of window shopping before I retire to chinese takeaway and my old friend, the laptop. So the other day I made it into Madewell to check out Miss Chung's first attempt at fashion - real life style.
Not unlike the first atempt from Kate Moss, it reeks of the designer but the novelty is enough to outweigh the negatives. I remember how excited I was when Kate Moss launched her first Topshop line, and while I still wear a pansy print wrap dress purchased all those moons ago, the following collections went down, down....and down. Maybe Alexa's line won't make it past the first, but I'm sure the novelty of it will push it through. The racks were certainly crowed and full of excitable shoppers.
I spotted more than enough pieces I want to buy but I face an internal dilema as I don't know if I want to buy into someone else's style. Yes the clothes are nice, great even, but I don't want to be running around town looking like a poor man's Alexa. OK, OK....homeless man's Alexa.

Velvet Tennessee Dress
Now for my next musing...have you really designed something if you have simply recreated the same dress in your wardrobe that Miss McCartney out together? I think not, pretty as it is.
Hating aside - although I must state I do not hate the line - it is still more affordable than what graces the beautiful back of Alexa, and look at her...is it really that bad to look like a lovie of Karl Lagerfield. I'm thinking not.
Here are my faves...

Annie Blouse, $128 ------------------Christian Jean Shorts in Abrasion, $98

Silk Margot Silk, $128 ------------- Greta Coat, $275
