I Think I Love Shoes

I have never before considered myself a shoe girl, but of recent I feel that can be the only accurate description of my current lusting habits. Flouncing past the new lines at Topshop is merely the opening act in my affair with shoes. While I peruse the fur and sparkle, I always have one eye on the shoe section, desperately hoping for something to take my fancy.

While I was in New York I sucked up the pain of a high heel and delved into the world of an uncomfortable fashion-obssesed lady every single morning. I would even don a heel at the weekend – when I didn't really need to. I could have spent the weekends in sweatpants and trainers, but the woman I became was the type that was finally willing to accept pain in return for style status.

Unfortunately since my return to the cold North East, I have lost more shoes than I have gained. Last winter my beautiful tan, lace-up, vintage flat boots came to pass - the sole cracking in two after a particularly rainy and miserable day. I let them lie on my bedroom for weeks before having the heart to bin them. This winter has proved to be more of the same, my Kurt Geiger Sesame boots gave up the ghost about three weeks ago, the glue holding the sole and upper together becoming as useful as Cheryl Cole on a talent show.

Despite my grief over my boot loss, and constant wearing of said dead boots in the snow which lead to a good case for frostbite, I decided it was time for some replacements. After searching and understanding that the Alexander Wang pair I had my heart on were not only out of my budget, but also impractical, I looked towards a more sensible approach. Step forward my local country shop and a pair of Toggi ankle, riding boots. As I strutted into the shop with my fur coat and Barbour shoes, I took great delight in the fact the sales assistant thought I was actually buying the boots to muck out my imaginary horse. Glued to my feet for the last few weeks, I can say they are the best £37 I have spent. They look particularly good with dark skinny jeans, and the fur coat. Oh and my Kate Moss Pansy dress. And the new leather shorts. I love them indeed.

My new skirt which will ALSO go wonderfully with the boots! If you look to the right you can see the corpse of my Sesame's. Sniff.
